Training Camps
The Club holds an annual training camp for Gold, Silver and Bronze Squads.
The next training camp will take place between 8th – 15th April 2011 in the fantastic facilities of the Getur Village, Lignano in Italy near Venice and Trieste.
In addition the Club intends to hold a number of weekend training camps and are currently investigating the possibility of holding these at the Mountbatten Centre in Portsmouth, which is a brand new, state-of-the-art facility, with a 50m pool. When our plans are further advanced we will post further details on this page - so please watch this space!
Below are further details of the 2011 week-long training camp
ITALY – Lignano Sabbiadoro
Getur Village in Lignano Sabbiadoro is a phenomenal facility and the perfect place for training camps at any time of the year. At the Adriatic Sea between Venice and Trieste, it is an entire sports village with 2 indoor pools (50m and 25m), weight room, fitness center, self-service restaurant, private beach, all sports playgrounds and several hotels with a total of 3000 beds. It’s a paradise for swimmers and coaches, since everything is at your fingertips, for training as well as for relaxation and fun. The accommodation rates (room and board plus training) are way lower than what you are used to in other places, where you would possibly go for a training camp.
Teams will stay at the purpose built Ge Tur village, which is ideally suited for visiting sports teams. Surrounded by a pine forest, the village offers many sporting facilities including swimming pools, football pitches and volleyball courts.
Teams will train in the indoor 50m competition pool which was used during the 2005 European Youth Olympics.
There is also access to a fitness suite on site as well as a number of all weather pitches and a large sandy beach for land training. The beach can obviously be used for relaxing too.
There are a number of outdoor pools situated within the village that are used for recreational swimming. The training pool is within walking distance of all accommodation.
Teams will have a choice of single, twin and triple rooms located within the village. All accommodation is based on a full board basis so you don't have to worry about meals.
There is also a choice of either eating in one of the large dining halls on site or alternatively choosing table service within your apartment block (for an extra charge). All rooms have modern furnishings and private bathrooms.
Lignano Sabbiadoro is a fantastic place to hold a swimming training camp, the GeTur Village boasts excellent training facilities and accommodation. Also, as the village is self contained, it is probably one of the safest environments you could wish to train.
Northern Italy is easily accessible from London airports and Atlantis has booked flights with British Airways.
