Atlantis, Horsham’s successful competitive swimming club this week announced that Home Counties Pools and Hot Tubs of Horsham is to become the Club’s top Platinum sponsor.  This is the first of what is expected to be a number of new sponsorship deals that the ambitious Horsham club will be announcing.

Home Counties are Sussex and Surrey’s leading suppliers of pool installation services, hot tubs, spas, and fitness pools, including the pioneering Endless Pools, which allow swimmers to swim or exercise against a smooth current that is fully adjustable to any speed or ability.  It allows those with limited space to enjoy the advantages of a full-sized swimming pool.  Home Counties are winners of no less than seven of the prestigious Swimming Pool and Allied Trades Association (SPATA) Gold Awards for its excellence in the industry.

The first manifestation of the new partnership will come as a 30-strong team of Atlantis coaches and swimmers head out this Friday for their annual overseas swim training camp.  This year’s week-long camp is being held at Lignano - where the 2005 European Olympics were held in the centre’s 10-lane 50m pool - in Northern Italy on the Adriatic Coast between Venice and Trieste.  The swimmers will be training for 4 hours in the pool and one hour of land each day.  Last year Atlantis enjoyed an extended camp thanks to the Icelandic volcanic eruption that grounded all flights, and had to return home by coach.

All members of the squad will be given special training kit, which will carry for the first time the Home Counties logo as well as the Atlantis logo.  It is planned that in time as part of the sponsorship all training kit will carry the Home Counties logo.  In addition Home Counties will be sponsoring a new annual team gala hosted by Atlantis in which 8 teams from across Sussex, Surrey and the South East will compete for the “Endless Pools Trophy”.  The inaugural contest will take place on 18th June at the Pavilions in the Park.

Atlantis swimmers will also provide demonstrations at Home Counties Open Days and raise money for charity at the same time.  Atlantis and Home Counties hope to raise money for the rehabilitation pool at Headley Court near Leatherhead in Surrey, which provides invaluable hydrotherapy for those badly injured in the service of their country, by swimming the equivalent of the Channel and back in a relay in a single day (38 nautical miles).

Atlantis Chairman Andrew Dunlop said: “What better sponsor for a competitive swimming club than a company that is involved in the swimming pool business!  We hope to build a long and fruitful partnership with Home Counties that is of benefit to both parties.  We are both focussed on high performance and success and that is an excellent common foundation on which to build”.

Home Counties Managing Director Craig Trusson said: “As a company we like to be involved in local initiatives and our local community.  Atlantis is a perfect fit for us and I have been impressed with their progress and profile locally.  I’m excited by the possibilities of our partnership”.
