Competitive swimming club Atlantis Horsham received a prestigious Swim 21 award in a ceremony organised last Sunday by the South East Region of the Amateur Swimming Association ASA at K2.

Brian Elkins (pictured right with Swim South East President Roger Penfold) Atlantis Committee Member and the Club’s Swim 21 manager, received the award on behalf of Atlantis.

Swim 21 is the ASA’s accreditation system. Atlantis has been awarded the skill development accreditation. The kite mark signifies a club that is providing a safe and effective environment for athletes, teachers, coaches and volunteers enabling them to reach their full potential.

Brian spent over a year putting together the evidence necessary to enable the ASA to validate the standards reached by Atlantis. He is no stranger to meeting tough quality requirements, having had experience of implementing quality systems during his business career.

Club Chairman Andrew Dunlop said: “This award is a mark of Atlantis’ commitment to continually improving and developing. We want to attract local swimmers to the club on the basis that we provide the right, safe and enjoyable environment for them to flourish. We are lucky to have someone of Brian’s experience to oversee this aspect of the club’s work; and indebted to him for all the hard work he has put into this project”.
