A 18-strong squad of Atlantis’ less experienced swimmers made the trip round the M25 to take part in the ‘Black Swan‘ Open Meet at Staines.  The squad of swimmers, largely drawn from the Club’s Bronze and Penguin & Seals Squads, was managed for the day by Atlantis Head Coach Bill Penny.  Bill has recently been coaching the younger squads in addition to his duties with the senior squads.

It was a particularly good day for 10 year old Lauren Pedel, who nabbed two county qualifying times in the 200m IM and the 50m breast.  Caitlin Moore made her presence felt, winning the 200m IM and taking bronze in the 50m back.

Also among the medals were Lucy Lee(12) - silver 200 IM & bronze in 100 IM, her sister Sophie (11) - bronze 100 IM, Oliver Giles (14) - silver 50 back, Ralph Hawkins (11) - silver 50 free and Liam Smith (10) - bronze 200 IM.

Congratulations also to Nataasza Szczepanski, Natasha Golding, Michael White, Cavan Murphy, Andrew Kershaw, Natalie Crundwell, Anya Elvin, Sian Harrison, Amy Denman, Emily Batchelor and Joshua Shapland - who along with the medal winners - shared an admirable 50 PBs between them.

Bill Penny said: “The club is trying to extend the competitive experience for all our swimmers.  We have never been to this gala before.  We will certainly come back next year.  it was great to see our less experienced swimmers enjoying the competitive experience and swimming so well”.
