Following the efforts of the seniors the previous weekend in the Sussex League, it was the turn of the Atlantis youngsters to show what they can do at a Level 3 Meet at Haslemere.

It proved to be a successful day all round, with 9 medals won and host of PBs from the 20-strong squad.

Star performer of the day was Leah Clarke, who showed great determination and all-round prowess to take two gold medals in the 100m IM and free and a bronze medal in the 100 breast.  All three swims were PBs for Leah and her time of 1.26.87 in the 100 IM won her the Best Girls Swim Award.

Not far behind Leah in the performance stakes were Jess Matlock who took gold in the 50m fly and sliver in the 200m free, and Tegan Jenkins who won convincingly her heat and a silver medal in the 200m free, in what would have been a Regional Qualifying time of 2.35.05.  The other medal winners were Ben Stevens who grabbed silver in the 50m fly, Naomi Clarke who won a bronze in the 100m breast and Isobel Davis, who took bronze in the 100m back.  Isobel and Jennifer Nash also had notable swims in the 200m IM both breaking 3 minutes and securing times of 2.56.66 and 2.59.69 respectively.

Eleanor Morris continued her steady progress with a haul of 4 PBs in 100m back, 100m breast, 200m free and 100m IM.

Atlantis Bronze Squad coach and Team Manager on the day, Paul Blyth said: “This was a great way for our youngsters to finish off the swimming season.  They have shown over the course of the season that the Club is developing more depth to its base of competitive swimmers.  They can now have a really good break over the summer holidays and come back refreshed and raring to go in September”.
