2016 Sussex Winter Counties

19th October 2016

Atlantis fielded over 40 swimmers at the Sussex ASA Winter Counties held at K2 in Crawley last weekend.

With nearly every swimming club in Sussex taking part an estimated 350 swimmers from across the county took to the block to race against each other.

Atlantis swimmers performed fantastically well all weekend and managed a magnificent medal haul of 79 including 23 Golds. Notable performances came from all age ranges but Amber Ranson performed consistently well all weekend winning 11 Gold Medals out of 11 Events. Senior Club Captain Beth Britton along with Zoe Cawsey and Lily Davis also won Championship Gold Medals in the Open Events.

Head Coach Andy Lobley said after the event, “We have a real team spirit building in the club at the moment and although it is brilliant to see so many medals I was more pleased with the attitude of the swimmers and their sense of togetherness throughout the weekend. Our coaching team has been working really hard on some vital technical aspects and I thought we managed to bring them to the pool this weekend”.
