8 Atlantis girls swim at Stratford.

27th November 2014

There was great excitement among 7 Silver Squad and 1 Gold Squad member last Saturday as they travelled with their parents, Andy and Matt to take part in the ESSA Schools national relay finals at the Olympic Pool in Stratford. Representing their schools Millais and Farlington, all 8 girls were taking part in the Intermediate Medley relay, having qualified through the South East Division Heats.

A highly charged rendition of the National Anthem set things rolling are after a short warm up and captains parade. With a long wait before their race the afternoon was taken up with getting as many selfies up on the big screen as they could!!!!! When it came to the racing all the girls were in great form and produced some great splits which saw Farlington finish in 2.16.08 and Millais qualifying for the final in 2.09.71. In the final they finished a very credible 7th in 2.11.09 which again was a great swim given the race had to be restarted due to a faulty start.

Representatives of the both schools attended and were thrilled to see their schools represented at such a big event which will, we are sure, see the schools try to work with our club to keep swimming on their sports agenda.

Millais School - Freya Fulcher, Lily Davis, Maddie Carey and Isobel Storey

Farlington School - Lauren Pedel, Lilly Cherriman, Gaby Eltham and Gemma Cumber.

Congratulations to all the girls well deserved success and a great day out for everyone involved.
