Rose avoids the ferries on her way to victory!

2nd September 2014

On the 30th August Rose Stride swam the 5th race in the SER Open Water series. This time it was held in Dover harbour and was a 2K swim from one side of the harbour to the other, past the harbour entrance to the channel and back and also past several ferries en-route to France. The water was a very cool 18'c and whilst the wind speed had dropped from earlier in the week it was still quite challenging rolling waves.

This was a very tough race, Rose said, as the water was freezing and very choppy. However, she won her age group beating all the other 12-14 year old girls and boys! She was also the 3rd lady home behind two other national open water swimmers.

There is one race left in the SER Open water series in Portsmouth next weekend and Rose is hoping to pull up to 3rd from her current 4th place. Her ambition is to one day swim a Channel relay crossing - today was a warm up, she said!

Well done and good luck in Portsmouth!
