What can you do in 6 hours?
22nd July 2014
On July 20th Isobel Clarke, secretary for the club, completed her first ever (and possibly her last) half Ironman. With the early start, the swim proved to be the best part, luckily managing to avoid being hit or swam over in what was effectively a washing machine. From then on things got tough... After kindly (or foolishly) giving her only inner tube to another competitor, she spent most of the bike ride in a state of anxiety, fearing that at any time she too could have a puncture. She managed to get back to transition safely, only to have to run a half marathon. After many gels and bottles of water she finished in a time of 6 hours and 3 minutes.
She would like to thank everyone who generously sponsored her, the total of which is 250. The money raised will go to Cancer Research UK and the Lanzarote swim camp.
Well done Isobel!
