Emphatic Victory for Atlantis sets up Dramatic League Finale

30th June 2014

On Saturday evening, Atlantis Swimming Club hosted their second round gala of their Sussex League campaign at The Pavillions in The Park. The club welcomed teams from Mid Sussex Marlins, based in Haywards Heath and Burgess Hill, and Worthing Swimming Club. Needing victory to maintain their unbeaten position in the league, the Atlantis swimmers started the evening in fine form and quickly established a sizable points lead. Their domination continued throughout the evening, including over 20 personal best swims, and after the 55 races had been completed, Atlantis were clear winners, having amassed 484 points. Marlins were second with 329 points, ahead of Worthing who recorded 189 points.

Atlantis now join Crawley and Brighton swimming clubs as the only undefeated teams in the league, and the 3 teams will swim against each other in the final gala this coming Saturday in Brighton, where the top three league places will be decided. The teams are very closely matched so it will prove to be a very tense and keenly contested gala, with the final league positions more than likely going to be decided in the last few races.
