Isobel is up for a challenge!
22nd April 2014
With some gentle persuasion from a friend, Isobel Clarke has begun training for a Half Iron Man challenge. She has also kindly offered to be sponsored to raise money for the club and a charity of her choice, so we would like to ask all members to consider possibly making a donation to her cause. Please see Lorraine on a Thursday evening at the Pavillions where any contribution will be gratefully received. Once you have read what is involved, I think it is fair to say that any amount raised will have been well and truly earnt!
Isobel will be taking up the challenge on July 20th in Marlow. This is what she had to say:
'It will involve a river swim in the Thames of 1.9km, then a 86km bike ride, followed by a 20km run.
Leading up to it I have entered a couple of smaller triathlons and a 2.5km swim at Eton Dorney (if any Atlantis swimmers would like to come and join me they would be very welcome). I am also cycling to Paris and back with my husband in June. This should be good bike training for me!
My inspiration to do this was Kate Davis (mum of Lily Davis) who managed to train for a half iron man a couple of years ago with a broken foot. I remember watching her swim at the Pavilions with a cast on her leg. She then still went ahead and completed it. What a woman!'
We wish Isobel all the best during her training and the best of luck on the day!
