Atlantis girls are outstanding!

ATLANTIS GIRLS OUTSTANDING AT PORTSMUTH LEVEL 1 LONG COURSE MEET

A compact team of 10 competed at last weekend's Portsmouth New Year L.C. Meet against top class Regional opposition, racking up an impressive total of 11 medals (4 gold, 5 silver, 2 bronze).

Our breaststroke girls showed their class with club captain, Bex Lobley, dominating the open events with national clockings of 1.15.61 and 2.42.75 respectively for the 100 and 200m breaststroke. National finalist, Lilly Davis, grabbed gold and silver in the 14 years 200 and 100m and 10 year old Rebecca Barber won gld in the 100m and silver in the 200m, less than a second outside the 11 years Regional qualifying time. Rebecca and her young club mates, Kian Cooke and Ethel Whyman competed in the meet to gain long course experience for their probable participation in the Regionals this year, with Ethel, showing her potential, taking Bronze in the 100m Backstroke

Rose Stride fought hard with strong finishes in the 800m F/C, (Silver) together with excellent PB's in the 50, 200 and 400 F/C and 200 IM.. Other medals went to Bex Lobley(200m I/M), Yasmin Hooker (100m Back) and Rebecca Barber (100m F/C).

Head Coach, Bill Penny, commented 'Considering the reduced training over the festive season, our swimmers excelled themselves and showed great spirit. They still have a long way to go but their efforts this weekend should motivate them for the future.'
