Medals and CQT's galore at the Cranleigh Level 3 Summer Open Meet
16th June 2013
Another weekend, another exciting gala and this time we travelled over the ‘border’ into Surrey where once again our swimmers excelled against some stiff competition. Star of the day had to be Bluebell Whyman who not only managed to win four gold medals but more importantly some brilliant PBs which will hopefully have earned her some County Qualifying Times*. Some of our youngest swimmers also did particularly well with Jacob Davis (9) knocking 15 seconds off his 200m breaststroke and Michael Pallister (9) who managed a 6 second PB in his 50m backstroke and a brilliant time of 4.25.29 in the 200m butterfly (Gold) – both boys earning CQTs*. Ethel Whyman, Isobel Hooker and Freya Fulcher continued their good form, all winning golds and achieving CQTs whilst Toby Van der Hut won the 400m freestyle with a 13 second improvement and Aiden Sparling won gold for the 50m backstroke with another PB.
Overall it was a great day with most of the swimmers achieving good personal bests. One swimmer even managed to knock off nearly 39.5seconds off a 200m swim!! Although this was a time from a year ago it does show what can be achieved with hard work.
Other medal winners included Sam Clarke, Emily Wenzel, Matthew Boyes, Cameron Holden-Graham, George Haskell, Emma Morris, Callum Easton, William Carey and Dominic Easton.
CQTs (to be confirmed) – Elena Smith, Ethel Whyman, Jacob Davis, Cameron Holden-Graham, Freya Fulcher, Isobel Hooker, Bluebell Whyman, Michael Pallister and Callum Easton.
*CQTs are according to 2013 times as 2014 times have not yet been published and have been taken as age at 16/03/2014
Congratulations to all!
