Vanessa Knight Memorial Meet

With the  Regionals taking place and half term holidays on the go it was a small team of only 24 swimmers that travelled down to Bognor Regis SC for their open meet, so it was really unexpected when we ended up bringing the Vanessa Knight trophy home !! It was a great day with many swimmers doing brilliant PBs, showing the results of all their hard training. The morning started off perfectly with Isobel Hooker winning a gold in the Girls 9/10 years 50m backstroke and Ethel Whyman coming in second. Isobel then followed this with a third place in the 50m freestyle. These were great achievements considering there were over 50 swimmers in this age group so all the girls did extremely well. Special mention should also go to Freya Fulcher who won the 11 year 50m Butterfly and came second overall in the IM . All three of these girls also achieved County Qualifying times along with Cavan Murphy and Matt Fulcher. Ethel managed an incredible 4.

The afternoon also started well with Cameron Holden-Graham and Toby Van der Hut coming in second and third respectively in the 11 year 50m backstroke. These two continued their medal haul for the whole day and with the help of Adam Webster in the butterfly, Atlantis achieved a second and third in all 5 races in this age group for the afternoon! Other top three swimmers were Madeline Carey (12) with thirds in the butterfly and IM, Lucy Lee(14) with three thirds (freestyle, butterfly and IM) and Anya Elvin who won the Girls 12 year 50m breaststroke. Lucy and Anya also achieved a county qualifying time and Madeline Carey along with her brother William managed to get 4 qualifying times each!

Atlantis swimmers amongst the medals, that were awarded in three catagories according to times achieved, were Amelia Eltham, Ethel Wyman, Holly Porter, Isobel Hooker, Sophie White, Amelie Somers, Freya Fulcher, Matthew Boyes, Aiden Sparling, Matt Fulcher, Cavan Murphy, Cameron Holden-Graham, Toby Van der Hut, Adam Webster, Sophie Lee, Lucy Lee, Madeline Carey, William Carey, and Anya Elvin.

Congratulations to all the swimmers who really should be proud of themselves.
