Our Spring Open Meet is a great success! (Updated 30.4.13)

Last weekend saw the last chance for swimmers to gain their Regional qualifying times at the very popular Atlantis Spring Open meet held at Horsham. It was also a great opportunity for many less experienced or younger swimmers coming through the development squads of Atlantis to test themselves in races.
Clubs from across the south east came to race across two full days of competitions and it started with the best possible outcome in the first race of the weekend which was the girls 400m freestyle . Atlantis swept the medals with Rose Stride , Gemma Cumber and Maddy Carey (12 ) taking gold , silver and bronze.
The weekend was a true success for the club with six swimmers gaining Regional Qualifying Times. Congratulations go to Ethel Whyman (10) , Rebecca Barber (10) , Lauren Pedel (12) , Eleanor Morris (13) , Andrew Kershaw (14) and Matt Fulcher (17).
As the weekend developed, Atlantis swimmers continued to put in great perfromances and as well as achieving personal best times they kept taking medals. Medal winners over the weekend were Anya Elvin (12), George Charter (14), Elena Smith (9), Dan Jones (11), Kian Cooke (10), Toby Van der Hut (11), Fred Griffiths (10), James Hartley (12), Rose Stride (12), Maddy Carey (12), Gemma Cumber (12), Isobel Hooker (10), Ethel Whyman (10), Rebcca Barber (10), Freya Fulcher (11), Matt Fulcher (17), Lauren Pedel (12), Eleanor Morris (13), Cavan Murphy (14), Edward Hundleby (14), Eve Clarke (11), Bluebell Whyman (14), Emma Morris (9), Cameron Holden-Graham (11), Max Windle (9), Willam Carey (9), Andrew Kershaw (14), Lucy Lee (14), Sophie Lee (13), Natasha Golding (14), Gabby Eltham (12) and Isobel Storey (12).
Head Coach Bill Penny said "It was great to see some more regional times being achieved and to see so many youngsters compete from across our squads. Well done to everyone."
The club's gala organization team of Giles, Debbie, Kerry and Caroline confirmed that the event had been a great success for the club, and they had received lots of great feedback from visiting clubs. Debbie said " Just to say a HUGE "Thank you" to each and every one of our volunteers for all of their help during the weekend. They all worked hard to pull together another very successful meet. I received many fabulous comments during the last couple of days which was great".
