Our youngsters impress in Redhill.

22nd April 2013

Atlantis SC were in action once again this weekend, taking part in the Charles Smith Trophy held in, and run by, Redhill SC.

A young team of 28 swimmers took part and all swam with their hearts on their sleeves. This type of gala is fantastic experience for our club and gives us a chance to try swimmers in different events and is great to bond the swimmers together. With time restrictions in place for the individual events, it is always a tough call on who is best suited to swim which event, but Atlantis performed strongly throughout the evening. In the relays we came into our own and finished strongly in nearly every event.

The climax of the evening was the 8 x 25 Squadron relay and to guarantee 2nd place overall Atlantis had to finish in front of Edenbridge who were in the lane next to them. The two clubs swapped places throughout the relay but Atlantis finished strongly and won the relay to finish 2nd overall behind hosts Redhill.

Andy Lobley and Becky Harrison were delighted with the result and Becky commented " We like to bring our swimmers to these events it is brilliant to see swimmers who have never raced in this atmosphere before side by side with more experienced team members. Hopefully this gives them a great incentive to keep training and keep training well!!"
