Bex and Eleanor rub shoulders with the stars!

13th March 2013

On Saturday 9th March, Bex Lobley and Eleanor Morris travelled up to Leeds, to prepare to swim in the very prestigious British Gas International Meet, at the John Charles Centre for Sport. The meet had attracted all the top British swimmers, including Liam Tancock, Kerri Ann Payne and Michael Jamieson, who was coached by Bill in his younger days! Also, competing alongside our girls was Ruta Meilutyte, who certainly made the headlines last summer!

Bex and Eleanor had qualified for the event in the 50M breaststroke, the heats of which were on Sunday morning, with Eleanor (13) achieving the junior qualifying time and Bex (17) the senior time. Although neither girl made the finals both had really good heat swims. The weekend was a fantastic experience for them, and looking back, Bex Lobley said "It is all part of our long term development, to qualify and take part in big events like this one. We always swim in water but every event brings little differences and we learn all the time". Proud Dad, Andy agreed.
