Fabulous performances at The Pavillions.

12th February 2013

Atlantis hosted its annual 'Regional Chaser' event on Sunday 10th February at The Pavilions in the Park, with many local Sussex clubs attending as well as clubs from as far as Croydon and Portsmouth.

This open meet is held for swimmers to keep chasing or improving upon times to compete at the County Championships held in March as well as the Regional Championships held later in the year. As ever the team of volunteers from the club as well as many officials gave up their time to ensure the all day event ran very smoothly and professionally.

Having swum in galas only the evening before, you could excuse some of the swimmers from being at their best, however from the first event, which was the 400m freestyle, they turned in winning performances with Rose Stride 12, Bex Lobley 16, Ella Windle 15, and Edward Hundleby 13 all winning gold. From then on in the Atlantis swimmers achieved 19 South East Regional Qualifying times, with Bex Lobley, Eleanor Morris, Anya Elvin, Rebecca Barber, Lily Cherriman, Issy Davis, Isobel Dunlop and Matt Fulcher all being successful. In addition to these great swims, the club's swimmers also achieved 134 County Qualifying Times.

With many personal best times and medals being won across the day it was a very successful day for the club. Head coach Bill Penny said "They have been training hard for the last few months, putting the work in the pool and this is a good result for their endeavours"
