Atlantis swimmers shine in The Sussex Schools Championships.
8th February 2013
Saturday 2nd February saw the annual Sussex Schools Championships held this time at our own Pavilions pool in Horsham.
This event is for secondary school children throughout the county, with the winners representing Sussex when competing at the regional level in the next round. Atlantis had 12 swimmers entered, each swimming a maximum of 2 events of their choice and the additional 200 free, if their submitted times qualified.
Atlantis swimmers George Charter, Gemma Cumber, Isobel Davis, Lily Davis, Anya Elvin, Andrew Kershaw, Bex Lobley, Eleanor Morris, Cavan Murphy, Lauren Pedel, Issy Storey and Rose Stride were all in contention.
Out of their 26 swims on the night - we had 16 personal bests which is an enormous achievement, with the biggest margin of PB being Andrew Kershaw with an 8 sec improvement in his 200m IM. This, unfortunately, was only good enough for the silver medal. Winners on the night, however, were Lily Davis in the 100m breaststroke, Eleanor Morris in the 100m backstroke and Bex Lobley in both her 100m breaststroke and 200IM events. We wish them luck in the next round.
