It's a Cracker!

26th November 2012

Atlantis hosted its annual two-day Christmas Cracker swimming gala over the weekend of 25th&26th November at the Pavillions .

There were 33 visiting clubs in total who came from as far away as Hamble, Newbury and Dartford . The award for top visiting club went to Sutton & Cheam who were pushed very close to the end by Shiverers ( Hove ) and Hastings Seagulls.

It was one of Atlantis' most successful galas ever and typifyed what makes the club so special ...fully committed swimmers and fully committed and supportive parents .

Atlantis swimmers as ever pushed themselves all the way over the weekend with over 80 swimmers competing in a full programme of events . They achieved literally hundreds of personal best times and numerous more County qualifying Times across the entire age group range. It would be unfair after so many wonderful swims to highlight any one individual swimmer, however, George Boyle (14) gets a special mention for going 1.00.00 exactly on his 100m freestyle !

Head Coach Bill Penny was truly delighted with everyone saying " The swimmers performed at a high standard all through the club, from beginners to the top end . I am really excited about the future of the club, as we can really push on from here ".

We have had numerous feedback from the visiting clubs - all of it very positive and congratulatory. It really shows what a great job you all did! The team of volunteers led by the Gala team of Giles Hundleby, Debbie Windle, Caroline Dedman and Kerry Porter organised a magnificent gala and everyone just got on with their roles on the day - you should be all very proud of yourselves, your club, and most importantly, your swimmers.
