Bex has got Talent!
12th September 2012
Congratulations to Bex Lobley our club's Senior Girls Vice-Captain, who has has been selected to be part of the ASA Talent Development Programme. The programme includes just 160 athletes across eight regions, and Bex will take part in the South East Beacon Programme at Portsmouth during the season.
Each Regional Beacon Programme provides regular access for a regionally selected group of swimmers to long course training, sports science support services and educational programmes as an enhancement to their club programmes. These youngsters have already shown promise and gives them access to quality coaching, athlete educational schemes and physiotherapy screening within a training camp environment that will prepare them for future international competition
How was she selected?
Swimmers must achieve certain qualifying times for their age group at certain specified competitions to be selected onto the development programmes. They then receive varying support depending on their level but this will include training camps, anthropological measurements and lifestyle management.
This is a fantastic achievement, and a reward for all the hard work Bex has put in to her training. This is a great example for our younger swimmers and hopefully it will inspire them to try and work as hard.
Well done Bex!
