A fun night in Dorking!

14th May 2012

In between a very busy period for Atlantis with the open meet and regionals a bit of fun was needed and this was in the form of the Robins Relay gala in Dorking. Teams were from Godalming, Dorking , TASS , Staines and Wimbledon

The gala is all relays - with the age groups of Under 12 , 14 , 16 and Open we had a mix of a squad between some novices and some real "old" masters , with a sprinkling in between .

There were relays for Breastroke , Fly , Medley and Free and a Squadron relay on Breast, Fly and Free as well. We had swimmers aged from 10 to over 40 and it was a really fun night for everyone . The swimmers kept going all night against some very strong teams from Dorking , Staines and Godalming and with many of our younger swimmers competing up the age groups , the whole team should be very proud of themselves.

The event finished with a "tandem" race where everyone swims in a line with the first swimmer peeling off every length to leave a sprint to the finish from the final competitor - very exciting to watch - and helps if they coach remembers to tell them to swim the same way ..ooops !

A big thank you to Mr Lambourne , Mrs Cooke and Mrs Hartley for being our official , timekeeper and team manager ...it couldnt happen without you , and to our parents and swimmers ..great to see everyone really enjoy the night ..well done.
