Resounding victory in Round 1!

3rd March 2012

On Saturday 3rd March, Atlantis made the short trip down to the Aquarena in Worthing for their first round of the Sussex Swimming League 2012 Division 1. They had been drawn against Hastings Seagulls and Worthing.

As the pool in Worthing is 33 & 1/3m in length, all 2 length races were therefore over 66m and the "100m" events meant swimming just three lengths.

Sussex League has under 12s, 14's, 16's and Open with two individual swimmers in every race for each club , so lots of points were up for grabs over the 55 events on the night.

Atlantis showed its strength in depth again and led from the front, winning the gala with 395 pts (so close to a magical 400 point total). Hastings came in second place with 338pts, followed by Worthing who amassed 273pts.

It was a very competitive night of swimming and fantastic to see so many Atlantis swimmers shine. It was also encouraging to see so many of our boys swimming really well.

Chief Coach Bill Penny said "An overall good win for Atlantis and some excellent swims from the team ".
