The Atlantis Horsham Swimming Club is strongly represented in the Sussex County Swimming Squad, which was recently announced. Seven Atlantis swimmers have been selected for the main Sussex County Swimming Squads for 2009/10.  The swimmers are Cam Lambourne (13), Yasmin Hooker (10), Jade Stocker (11), Ella Windle (11), Joe Harrod (13), Katy Harris (15) and Jonathan Blyth (17).  A further two swimmers, Edward Hundleby (10) and Izzy Harrod (9), have been selected for the County Development Squad.

Cam Lambourne has also been selected for the National Age Group squad, following his fantastic showing last month in the National Swimming Championships in Sheffield, where he took silver in the 100m freestyle.

To be considered for selection for the county squad swimmers must have achieved 3 or more regional qualifying times over the course of the preceding season and actually to have competed in individual events at Regional meets and achieved their base qualifying time in a 50m pool.

The first county squad training session will be on 20th September.  This session will be used to select the Sussex team for the Inter-county Championships in October.

Chief Coach Bill Penny said: “Well done to all the swimmers concerned.  The Atlantis representation in the county squad shows how the club is continuing to grow, develop and become more competitive.  We want to build on this over the coming year”.

The new swimming season starts in earnest in September with a busy calendar of events for Atlantis swimmers including the Sussex Relays on 13th September, the Regional Schools Swimming Championships in Southampton on 19th September and the start of the National Swimming League on 10th October.
