SEAHAWKS TAKE OFF

Two of Sussex’s leading competitive swimming clubs - Atlantis SC Horsham and Shiverers SC based in Brighton and Hove - are announcing today a major new initiative to improve swimming in Sussex. The two clubs are forming a new combined swim squad to be known as the Sussex Seahawks Swim Team.

ATLANTIS YOUNGSTERS CARRY HORSHAM TO NATIONAL SCHOOLS FINALS

11 Atlantis swimmers will be competing for their Horsham schools at the ESSA Secondary Schools Team Championships at the Quays in Southampton on Saturday 26th November. The Championships pit 16 teams from all over the country in three age groups - Junior, Intermediate and Senior - racing in 200m freestyle and medley relays.

KATE MAKES HER MARK AT NATIONALS

Atlantis swimmer Kate Windle (11) made her presence felt competing in the British Gas ASA National Age Group Championships in Sheffield on Friday, making the finals in 200m breast. Kate - who qualified for the Championships at the South East Regional Championships in June - was competing in her first Nationals and was one of the youngest competitors in her age group, having just had her 11th birthday.

ATLANTIS FINISH NATIONAL ARENA SWIMMING LEAGUE ON THE UP

Atlantis finished the National Arena Swimming League season on the up. The Horsham-based club came a very close second to home team Woking in the third and final NASL gala at the Pool in the Park on Saturday night, confirming a sustained improvement in performance over the three galas.

ATLANTIS ‘TOP TEAM’ IN A CHRISTMAS CRACKER

Atlantis swimmers enjoyed themselves at their own annual Christmas Cracker Open meet at the Pavilions on Sunday, emerging as the top team with 2490 points – 250 points clear of Shiverers SC, who took the Top Club Trophy for visiting clubs for the second year in a row. Atlantis swimmers won an incredible 58 medals – 23 golds, 17 silver and 18 bronze.

YOUNG ATLANTIS SWIMMERS’ QUALIFY FOR 2010 SUSSEX COUNTY CHAMPS

The first day of the 2009 Sussex County Development Meet was held at the Prince Regent Pool in Brighton on Sunday 1st November. Atlantis was represented by a team of over 20 of its most promising younger swimmers.

KATY AND CAM AT ENGLISH SCHOOLS FINALS

Atlantis Horsham swimmers Katy Harris and Cam Lambourne helped Division 12 of the English Schools Swimming Association (ESSA) into a highest-ever runners-up spot in the ESSA Championship finals at Crystal Palace on Friday and Saturday.

Three Atlantis swimmers – Cam Lambourne, Sam Carter and Issy Dunlop - represented Sussex at the Inter-Counties National Championships at Ponds Forge, Sheffield on Sunday.

GEORGE STRIKES GOLD

Local swimmer George Clarke struck gold on Saturday night when he swept the board at the Mid Sussex Marlins Disability Gala at the Olympus Triangle in Burgess Hill.

PLUCKY ATLANTIS IN NATIONAL SWIMMING LEAGUE

Atlantis, the Horsham-based competitive swimming club, headed off down the M20 to take part in the first National Swimming League Division 1 Gala in Dover on Saturday evening.

ATLANTIS AT HOME FOR CRANLEIGH OPEN MEET

Atlantis swimmers felt right at home for Cranleigh Swimming Club’s Level 3 Licensed Meet on Sunday 4th October. The meet was being held at Atlantis’ Pavilions in the Park home base in Horsham due to the current closure of the Cranleigh pool. Atlantis swimmers took over 30 medals for 1st, 2nd or 3rd places.

CAM BAGS SILVER AT NATIONAL SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS

Atlantis swimmer Cameron Lambourne – Cam to his family and friends – swam out of his skin to take silver behind Jack Smith of the Plymouth Leander Club in the final of the boys 13 yrs 100m freestyle in the National Swimming Championships in Sheffield last Thursday night.
